Rory Williamson School of Dance

Offering classes in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theatre & Acrobatics, RWSOD is Coolum’s most established dance studio.

The School is run by Principal Rory Williamson and Associate qualified and professional teachers, who aim to generate the highest level of dance education in a friendly, supportive and positive environment. We believe in the importance of creating smart, confident, healthy dancers, from the youngest budding dancers to the aspiring professional.

Classes are exciting, fulfilling and inspiring and follow set guidelines, syllabus and learning strategies, to combine discipline and creativity.

Rory Williamson School of Dance has been operating in Coolum Beach since 1999, and has built a strong student base and respect and recognition in the area and surrounds.

The school also offers teacher training and mentorship to qualifying candidates and VET accredited courses.

Our Studio is located at 1/12 Williams St, Coolum Beach, we also utilise the Uniting Church Hall, Cnr Heathfield & Elizabeth Sts, Coolum Beach.

Classes

Acrobatics
Acrobatics

Acrobatics (Acro) for dance is a skills class, safely and effectively teaching students acrobatic movements. These skills can be incorporated into dance or learned as a genre all on its own.

Tap
Tap
Tap dance is dancing whilst making a “tapping” sound with the feet, enabled by wearing shoes with a specially designed metal plate underneath the toe and heel.
Ballet
Ballet
Classical ballet is the traditional artform of dance that has been practiced since the 16th Century, and continues today, characterised by turned out legs and pointed feet.
Contemporary
Contemporary
Contemporary dance has developed over the last century, and draws on classical ballet, jazz and modern dance.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop
Hip Hop dance is generally a modern or street style that is danced to hip hop music. Hip Hop has developed over the last 50+ years alongside Hip Hop culture.
Jazz
Jazz
Jazz dance encompasses many modern/contemporary dance styles, and has developed over the last century.

Our Creative Team

Miss Ella
Miss Ella

Miss Ella is RWSOD’s assistant teacher and is currently completing her Assistant Dance Teaching Certificate. She has studied to senior levels in all styles of dance with RWSOD and has been an assistant teacher for over 5 years. She is a familiar face around the studio and a promising choreographer and vibrant and charismatic performer herself. She works with our tiniest and most senior dance teams and is developing a wealth of knowledge and experience. We are so proud to be a part of her journey and have her be a part of ours.

Miss Emily
Miss Emily

Miss Emily is currently assisting classes as she undertakes her teaching qualifications. Emily has danced since she was 3 yrs old under the guidance of RWSOD, studying all styles and is now furthering her dance education and training with a particular focus on ballet.  Emily has consistently been an Honours student, performed and competed, winning awards, and has been a student teacher for many years and continues to mentor and be a role model and favourite to younger students. We are so excited about the rest of her dance journey and love having her assist in class and excited to see her commence her teaching career.

Miss Charlotte
Miss Charlotte
Miss Charlotte is an experienced Jazz, Tap, Musical Theatre and Classical Ballet teacher, with a background in CSTD and RAD. She has studied with many organisations and styles, and is also trained in contemporary, lyrical, hip hop and singing. Miss Charlotte has taught and choreographed overseas and on on the Sunshine Coast and is delivers a fun and engaging class whilst balancing it with exceptional technical tuition and impressive knowledge of dance and dance training for her years. We absolutely love the vibe she brings to RWSOD!
Miss Edie
Miss Edie
Having found the desire to dance at a young age, Eden Cook studied with RWSOD and excelled both in exams and on stage and shone in performance.

Founder and studio owner, Principal Rory Williamson is a teacher, assessor (examiner), syllabus co-author, and teacher trainer and mentor.
Miss Tali
Miss Tali
Dancing with RWSOD since a young child, Miss Tali is a registered Acrobatic Arts instructor/teacher and is now completing her ADi Certificate in Dance Teaching & Management under the guidance and mentorship of Miss Rory and RWSOD. Having been a student teacher for many years, a senior student and dance captain and troupe leader, Miss Tali is well on her way to being a talented and respected teacher. Specialising in Jazz, Classical ballet, Acro and Hip Hop, Miss Tali is an up and coming force to be reckoned with and much loved and well recognised in the RWSOD studios.
